I'm trying to install fbsd on MSA1000 via fibre from rx2620.

da0 and da1 are local disks
da2-da4 contain VMS data
da5 is the new LUN on which I want to install fbsd.
All filesystem information written successfully.
Then the system reboots
Perhaps this is not supposed to work anyway?

ok, the previous error was from 8.0 snapshot from Summer 2009.

with FreeBSD-8.0-STABLE-201002-ia64-disc1.iso
I get to this stage:

Extracting base into / directory... |
| +--------------------------------------------+ |
| | | |
| +--------------------------------------------+ |
+----------------------100%----------------------+

81249280 bytes read from base dist, chunk 58 of 58 @ 1766.3 KBytes/sec.

and then get a reboot:

1 0 0x0000A4 0x0000000000000000 start memory configuration
[skip]

I'm not sure what would have been installed on disk by this stage,
and whether I can hope to boot from it now.

Shall I also try 9.0 snapshot?

many thanks

remembered about hw.ata.atapi_dma=0
so moved one step further and the installation went fine until
the end.

Now I can't find the boot disk in the efi boot manager:

File System Explore

| Load Fil/-----------------------------------------------\ |
| Load Fil| No files/directories found on selected device | |
| Load Fil| Press any key to continue | |

\----------- -------------/

It should be the third device on the list, but it give the above "no files found"
message.

many thanks
